FAQ

The Answers You Need

WHEN IS THE NR2 YARD SALE TRAIL?

The 5th "annual" event was held Saturday, 15th July, 2023 and was another great success.

Dates for the 6th annual yard sale will be announced in 2024 - watch this space!

If you want to sell & shop, then check out our other FAQs.

HOW DO I GET MY HOUSE ON THE MAP?

Registrations will be open in April, 2024, for the 6th annual yard sale.

Remember - you can always join in even if you haven't registered. Just put up posters & tell everyone!

DO I NEED TO PAY TO HAVE A 'STALL' AT MY HOUSE?

To keep the event 'free', we ask that each stall owner promote the event.

We also welcome donations - £1 pays for 10 bright yellow A4 posters - just drop it off at 43 Havelock.

Print off posters, flyers, spread the word via social media, hang up bunting, write on the pavement - Get your creative groove on & make a big show of it. Promotional material will be available on the website closer to the time.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Become a NR2 Yard Sale Trail Champion.

Commit to putting flyers through doors or posters on posts (at your cost).

Photocopying 25 sheets of A4 (A6 flyers) can flyer 100 houses, 10 sheets of A4 posters should cover advertising on your street posts.

DO I HAVE TO BE "OPEN" THE WHOLE TIME?

No - You can set up your stall and take it down any time you like.

We do, however, encourage you to keep it open during the published times so that people who have travelled to shop or other stallholders who want to, can shop.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

Rain happens ...

Why not think about setting up a stall in your front room or similar

We found that wind & rain actually brings out the best in people, with creativity and hospitality galore, just make sure you have signs / banners, etc letting people know you're open. Heck, you may even get invited in for a cup of tea.

If the MET OFFICE posts an AMBER or RED weather warning, we'll look to post a 'rain day' on our Facebook page.  Otherwise, we encourage you to get creative and set up that 'shop' you've always wanted. You can post on the Facebook group & put up flyers with your intention to be open on another day.

Note: You can always organise your neighbours to do a 'street sale' at a later date or open up a little earlier or stay open a little longer if the weather suits - just let people know by posting it.

CAN I SELL THINGS ON SUNDAY?

You can sell things whenever you like, but we'll be promoting the event for one day.

If you want people to know you'll be open on another day, make sure to put up flyers with your intention. You can always post on the Facebook group to let others know.

I WANT TO SHOP & SELL MY THINGS, HOW CAN I DO THIS IN ONE DAY?

We know the feeling!

Why not buddy up with a family member, friend or even a neighbour. You can set up a stall that one or all of you look after during the day. You can then take turns or agree "shifts" for shopping. The sale goes on from 10am-4pm so you can do a bit of both.

THERE ARE SO MANY HOUSES, HOW CAN I GET TO THEM ALL?

We're lucky to have so many great neighbours taking part, that you may not be able to shop at all of them.

We recommend you choose an area and simply enjoy. Another way to make some distance is to get on a bike (Beryl bikes are an option if you don't have one)

Many stallholders will also "hold" stuff if you buy it and want to keep shopping and collect later. Just ask.

HOW DO I GET TO THE YARD SALES?

NR2 is the postcode for the west of the city of Norwich.

We encourage everyone to walk, cycle or use public transport to get to the area, with parking at a premium. Buses run every 7 minutes out of the city and can drop you off close to the houses selling.

Buses 25 & 26 run from the Norwich train station, through the city and down Unthank Road and Earlham Road where you can walk to most of the houses taking part.

Bus 24 also runs from the Norwich train station, down Dereham Road, allowing you to shop even more houses.

HOW DO I MAKE SURE TO SELL STUFF?

KEY is to tell everyone about it. The sale is as successful as you make it.

  1. Invite your neighbours (yes, really...flyer your street, ask them to join you to buy, sell or just chat)

  2. Put up posters (everywhere)

  3. Post in social media & tag us (instagram @norwichyardsale, Facebook @NR2YardSaleTrail, #nr2yardsale)

  4. Make signs (and put them up on main streets, directing the punters to you)
